Senior Database Administrator

Description:The Senior Oracle Database Administrator is responsible for all aspects of the Oracle DB infrastructure including:
- Maintenance and support
- Development and design
- Data integrity
- Data security and backups
- Reporting and archival

Special Requirements:
• Travel as required by position.
• This position may require proof of a valid driver’s license and insurance
• Must have a valid passport with ability to travel between the US and Canada

Duties:• Provide operational management and support of Oracle databases in multiple environments
• Participate in 24x7 operational on-call rotation scheme for production support
• Provide design support to teams involved in application development, testing and implementation.
• Prepare status reports to accurately communicate progress; provide early notification of problems that could affect schedules, or the integrity or availability of data.
• Coordinate with various teams and external contacts to ensure production and support deadlines are met
• Available for monthly maintenance windows, and ad-hoc requests for operational support outside of normal business hours
Qualifications:Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Expert DB tuning and troubleshooting abilities
• Exceptional SQL fluency
• Programming and scripting (PL/SQL, bash shell)
• Knowledge of Java platforms and middleware (e.g. Java, JDBC, Tomcat)
• Strong process and deployment procedure skills. Ability to plan and track changes through multiple environments (Dev, QA, Staging, Production)
• Competent with Oracle licensing terms and requirements
• Ability to lead technical discussions and projects in an organized manner
• Ability to drive problem resolution to root cause
• Ability to document strategies and designs and present to these ideas to management with cost/benefit analysis
• Must be able to manage time effectively and to deliver on commitments
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Must be able to operate well in a team environment and under pressure
• Familiarity and experience with Payment Card Industry (PCI) Security Standards

Credentials and Experience:

• 8+ years of IT experience, including Linux administration – preferably with Redhat
• 6+ years experience in managing relational database systems with at least 4 years supporting Oracle platforms
• Oracle DBA experience including these areas of focus:
• Exadata and Oracle Database Appliance (ODA)
• 11g RAC setup, administration and maintenance
• GoldenGate Replication
• Advanced Data Guard
• OEM Grid Control
• OLAP/Reporting
• Experience with a data modeling tools
• Large database support (1TB+)
• Large user base support (5k+)
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL are a useful asset but not the primary focus of this position.
